With the exception of a couple guys, everyone in the bullpen is struggling. Maybe not statistically, but if you are watching the games these guys are stirring up a lot of trouble before they get out of it (if they get out of it). The bullpen has been our only consistency for a while here in Kansas City, so what is up? Are they really struggling, or is our starting rotation doing so well that they are making the bullpen look bad? We have 3 starters who have lower than a 3.0 ERA, and one starter with a 3.2 ERA. That is pretty dang good. Of course those numbers won't stay that low as the season progresses so is that when we get our stellar bullpen back? The back end of our bullpen has blown a lot of leads/games this season and it is still very early in the season. It has a lot of people wishing we had the Mexicutioner back at the end of our bullpen. I wonder if the starters being able to go deeper into the games is effecting our bullpen's success at all. So far, we haven't needed but 1-2 innings out of our bullpen most nights. That means sometimes only one guy gets to throw. These young bullpen players who have established themselves in KC haven't had a season where they do not get overused. Maybe the fact that they aren't getting innings every night is effecting them. Just something to think about.
