I was looking up the upcoming pitching matchups after yesterday's, once again, uninspired performance from the Kansas City Royals and noticed something. Cool Stuff (I'm still going to call him Cool Stuff) looks like he's going to be punished for being uncool on the mound.
As we know, another Ervin Santana start was wasted on Sunday and Monday is an off day for us to reflect. The pitching matchups for the next four days look like this. They all look very winnable, but we all know how that goes:
- Tuesday, June 4th: Samuel Deduno vs. Luis Mendoza
- Wednesday, June 5th: P.J. Walters vs. Jeremy Guthrie
- Thursday, June 6th: Mike Pelfrey vs. James Shields
- Friday, June 7th: Astros Guy vs.
Cool StuffErvin Santana
Personally, I'm having trouble understanding why this is. Before the Royals somehow defeated the Cardinals and Rangers recently, Cool Stuff was the streak stopper for this team. Who started the game against Anaheim on May 15th? Cool Stuff. Who started the game against Houston on May 21st? Cool. Stuff. Wade Davis. The guy just knows how to win. To fit the narrative, I'm going to leave out May 31st.
So, does this mean anything OR are the Royals just taking advantage of the off day to make sure our streak stopper pitches on Retro Night and, once again, defeats the Astros?
