A quick look at where the Royals affiliates stand with a few weeks left in the season.
AAA - Omaha Storm Chasers (64-64)
The Storm Chasers have the advantage of playing in a horrific division within the PCL. That results in them actually sitting in first place with a .500 record. They are 4.0 games up on Memphis and look likely to make the postseason.
80% chance of postseason play
AA - Northwest Arkansas Naturals (52-73; 27-28 second half)
The Naturals play in the Texas League, which awards playoff spots to the first half, and second half, winners of each division. So despite a horrendous first half which saw the Nats finish 20 games under .500, they are still right in the thick of the second half race. They too, have a subpar division, leaving them 1.0 GB in a division where one game separates all 4 division teams.
50% chance of postseason play
High A - Wilmington Blue Rocks (56-68; 23-31 second half)
The Carolina league also awards playoff spots to both "half" champions, but the Blue Rocks are far from first place They are currently 10.5 GB of the mighty Potomac Nationals (WSH) who won the first half, and are running away with the second half. That said, because of the need for a team for the Nationals to play in the playoffs, the second place team from the second half will qualify for the playoffs That leaves the Blue Rocks 2.0 GM of Lynchburgh (ATL) with 12 games to play.
20% chance of postseason play
Low A - Lexington Legends (63-59; 30-24 second half)
Another first/second half league playoff matchup gives the Legends a shot after a horrible first half. They are currently 3.0GB of the Augusta Greenjackets (SF) for the second half playoff spot. With an elimination number of 15, and 6 of their remaining 13 games against Augusta, the Legends have their destiny in their hands.
33% chance of postseason play
