The Royals announced they have invited sixteen non-roster players to spring training. Most of these are minor league free agents the team has signed, but they also include top pitching prospect Kyle Zimmer and top outfielder Jorge Bonifacio, as well as decentish pitching prospect Jason Adam.
The minor league veterans include catcher Adam Moore and Ramon Hernandez, infielders Jason Donald and Brandon Laird, outfielders Melky Mesa, Gorkys Hernandez, and pitchers Cory Wade and P.J. Walters. The Royals did NOT invite speedster Willie "Mays" Hayes, so if you see him lurking around the facility, toss him out.
The Royals also invited a few organizational foot soldiers like pitchers Sugar Ray Marimon, Aaron Brooks, Scott Alexander, and outfielder Paulo Orlando. Catcher Juan Graterol was also invited because extra catchers are needed in spring training.
Pitchers and catchers report to Surprise, Arizona on February 14. The first full-squad workout is February 20.
