OT: Moving to KC

Greetings fellow baseball fans,

I'm a visitor from the Braves SB Nation site. I'm in the process of relocating to KC for a new job, and I wanted to see if I could glean some good info from locals. The folks at Talking Chop are usually helpful at directing visiting fans to nice hotels, restaurants, etc. when visiting ATL so I thought I'd try my luck picking the brains of this fan base as well. I hope this isn't very obtrusive. Basically, I'm looking for tips on good places to live that are in the better parts of town/not out in the boonies, removed from things like restaurants and bars and such. When I visited for the interview I got a quick tour of the Downtown/Plaza area, which seems very nice from the outside looking in. What's the real skinny on where's a good place to set up shop in those areas (as well as good value for the money, i.e. not too overpriced)? Also, is anyone looking for a roommate (or know someone you trust who is)? I am a single guy moving out of a roommate situation now and wouldn't mind moving into another one if the circumstances are right. I am not opposed to trading a case of beer/ballgame tickets/etc. for tips that lead to my new home. Any help with this is appreciated, and I hope I don't distract too much from your offseason rosterbation, fantasy team prep, and other assorted pastimes. Thanks!
