Cold Bats: How are the Royals not producing a ton of runs?

That wasn't a good hitting performance. Up to last night, the starting pitching has been steady. Giving the bullpen numerous chances to shut down the game. While, the bullpen is still trying to find itself. The Royals hitting as been so far this season, well, sub-par..very sub-par.

Not only have the Royals produced the fewest amount of runs in American League (28). But also tied for 28th best in majors. (Cincinnati has 28, San Diego with the fewest at 20). Pounding out just 3 runs per game makes it hard to win consistently. Also it puts major pressure on the starting pitching, thus having a trickle down effect to the bullpen. For the Royals' sake, starting out fast with the bats in the early months. Makes it much easier to hold steam in the American League. Who is practically a hitters and home runs league.

Furthermore, where are the homeruns and killer batting averages by the way? Royals are dead last in Home runs hit at a measly 1. If you dont realize how much the long ball changes ballgames. Look at the organizations such as Chicago White Sox, Detroit. They all may not have sexy team batting averages. But, they produce runs in bunches with 1 swing. It takes the Royals to go through 3-4 hitters to squeeze out 1-2 runs on average.

Back to the scrawny team batting averages for the Royals so far. Coming into Thursday, it was .258. Most likely it dropped significantly after last night's drowsy performance. With the exception of Perez, Aoki, and Cain. The rest of the bunch have so far average or below average batting avg. Mike Moustakas might have had 2 hits yesterday. Both him and Alcides Escobar have under .180 batting averages. Moustakas breaking the .100 ice with his recent performance, Escobar is stuck at .167. Both hitters, who are extremely vital to have strong performances coming out of the gate. Have done nothing but that hitting wise.

Sure, KC can flash the glove everytime out. Have stellar starting pitching complimented by a resurging bullpen, waiting to get back to form. Won't get backed up until the hitting comes out of the April mist and starts to make this team dependable on all sides of the diamond.
