Yordano Ventura injury: Royals starter leaves early, MRI scheduled

Jamie Squire

Royals says the elbow injury is "lateral" and an MRI will provide more information tomorrow.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Royals rookie ace Yordano Ventura had to leave the game in the third inning of his start against the Houston Astros after a significant drop in velocity. Ventura had struggled with poor command the entire game and for the second straight start did not look his best. Andy McCullough has more:

"Lateral" indicates it is not "medial" which is typically associated with the ulnar collateral ligament and Tommy John surgery. However, as Jeff Passan points out.

So if you're asking me if its time to freak out and panic, I say yes. Yes it is.
