Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Brandon Webb pitched seven solid frames to pick up his big-league best 19th victory, as Arizona closed out a three-game sweep of San Diego, 4-1.
Webb (19-4) scattered three hits and nary a run with three walks and eight strikeouts in winning his sixth straight start. The sinker-baller is unbeaten over his last 11 starts (8-0). The 19th win is a new career high, as Webb won 18 games a season ago.
Conor Jackson completed a hot series with two RBI for the Diamondbacks, who have won six of seven overall. Jackson knocked in six runs over the three-game sweep.
Arizona's victory kept it two games ahead of the surging Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West division race.
Chad Reineke (1-1) was hit with the loss after giving up three runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts over six frames. Edgar Gonzalez's pinch-hit single off Diamondbacks closer Brandon Lyon scored San Diego's lone run in its fourth straight defeat.
Mark Reynolds' double moved Adam Dunn to third base in the second frame, and Tony Clark's sacrifice fly drove the newest Diamondback in for a 1-0 edge. Jackson's two-run double in the fifth created breathing room, and Chris Snyder's single scored the aforementioned Jackson with Arizona's fourth tally in the eighth.
