Padres reinstate Bard, option Carlin

San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres reinstated catcher Josh Bard from the 15-day disabled list Friday. He had been sidelined since August 7 with a strained right tricep.
Bard, 30, has appeared in 44 games this season, batting .209 with a homer and 12 runs batted in.
In a related move, the team optioned catcher Luke Carlin to Triple-A Portland. Carlin batted .154 with a home run and six RBI in 33 games this season for the Padres.
