Meche close to signing with Royals

looks like the royals outbid the cubs and bluejays we bid 4 years at 45 million compared to 4 years 40 million by the other 2 clubs.
I like this move alot I think hes just entering his prime and will break out in kansas city.  It still looks like we are the leaders for bautista as well.

If Meche signs...
If Meche signs do we still sign Bautista?  Or is it an either or type deal.  What are the talks with Lopez?  I heard they were stalled.  At least, with this move the rotation is looking better.

the reports say
we still want bautista.  If we sign both I'm not sure if we need to acquire Roddy.  But if they take reggie off our hands then im all for it.  The more pitchers we have the better chance atleast one is a stud!

Pitchers
I think if they take Reggie off our hands I'd almost like to have Lopez over Bautista just because he's younger and there is not as much commitment financially.  True.  The more pitchers we have the better one is a stud!  Thanks for the info!

Looks like royals are one of 4 finalists
in aquiring Octavio Dotel.  while im not very excited about this injury prone reliever, its possible we could sign him cheap and if hes healthy, which is unlikely, im all for it, because hes a solid closers option.

5th Year
I heard the Royals jumped up to a 5th year for Meche and that's what tipped us over the edge.

so whats the total contract worth?
5/45 or 5/55?

Wow!
I hadn't heard about Octavio Dotel that would provide a lot of stability if healthy.  Our bullpen would be set.  A 5th year for Meche seems like a lot, but at least he's young so he should be good for it.
