Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Cardinals fan

Im a Cardinal fan, and read vivaelbirdos a lot, and have got into royalsreview bc I think royalsreview's posts are funny and being from Missouri, I like the Royals as much as any other AL team.  Anyway, 2 questions:

1)  Why is Scott Elarton "self appointed team inspector" or whatever you all call him?

and more importantly

2)  Whenever I watch Cards v Royals in KC, the announcers always talk about how there are as many, if not more, Cards fans at the ballpark.  Are there really as many Cardinal fans in KC as Royals fans, or do the Cards fans just tend to make the drive over from StL for the interleague games?

Welcome PGeorge
To question #1:

I started calling Elarton "Self Appointed Team Effort Inspector" after his post-game meltdown in late may.

http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/sports/baseball/14636504.htm

This was during the period when there was some sentiment that he was a "tough-luck" pitcher b/c his ERA was in the low 4.00s and he was 0-4 or something.

The name isn't a perfect fit, but I've gotten into the habit.

#2) I think KC is still a strong Royals town, but Missouri is a big Cardinals state at the moment. KC is a cheaper stadium to visit, and there are some Cards fans who probably enjoy invading. I doubt many Cards fans are driving from STL, but from Joplin, Jeff City, Columbia and Springfield.

stupid
Jeff City Cardinals fans...they make my life miserable, I tell you!

Anyways, I think the influx of fans this year was due mostly to the new Busch stadium having hard-to-get tickets.

Nah, it's cool. And on another note, I hope that I'm not stuck in Jeff City for the rest of my life :-\

Spoken like a true Hawkeye Fan....
Des Moines is coming around, but still has a ways to go.  I live in a lovely burg of 300 people just between the metropolitan areas of Des Moines and Ames.  That 300 figure is counting the dogs and the cats too.

Watch out for those Iowa boys loyal2.

Buena Vista College.... or the lake...
Cedar Rapids is a nice place if you can past the Quaker Oats and ADM plants smell.  It is sort of like a constant oatmeal smell.

But, it has the Cedar Rapids Kernals...they play against our Burlington Bees....
