Alex Gordon's Rookie Year

Royals web site had this article http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070913&content_id=2206241&vkey=news_ kc&fext=.jsp&c_id=kc

I didn't realize he only needs 4 extra base hits to break Royals rookie record held by Seitzer and Beltran.  I know I bought into the hype that Gordon would hit 30 HRs, 100 RBIs and hit .300.  And, I would have sent him down to Omaha in May, too.  But people have noted on RR that if he would have come up to KC in May and put up the number he did, Gordon would have ROY numbers. His glovework has been outstanding.  Plus, his ability to draw the HBP kept his OBP up even when he wasn't hitting his weight.

When the season is done, what can be said about his rookie year?  What do you think next year will hold for Gordon?  Will the nickname "Smirky" stick?  This isn't quite a John Sickel's Crystal Ball but how about 2008?
