Game 155 Open Thread- Royals (67-87) at Tigers (84-71)
The Royals can secure a series victory and possibly eliminate the Tigers from the AL Central race with a win today in Detroit.
The Tigers send Justin Verlander (17-6, 3.70 ERA) to the mound, while the Royals counter with Jorge de la Rosa (8-11, 5.40 ERA), who'll be making his first start since a 5-3 loss to the Twins back on July 31.
Arrowhead Pride has an open thread going for this Chiefs game.

Anyone read the Star this morning?

Somehow, "unlikely" doesn't seem to accurately reflect those circumstances.

This explains a lot
I'm aware everybody may seem to be a kid to Buddy, but if Buddy thinks of Bale as a "kid", then it's no wonder he thinks Gload and Brown need lots of September at bats as well, they're just "kids".

I like Grudz getting a day off, and Smith does surprise us with his sneaky power. I do not hate him anymore. He is like German's bizzaro twin. German is the utility infielder with the OBP, Smith is the utility infielder with the SLG%. If only we could mash them together.
Brazell and Huber might as well go look for the taco vender up in the cheap seats.
Butler DH, Gload 1B. Butler's learning process continues. Buddy is quoted on KCRoyals.com saying Butler needs to learn first base, but he would rather have him do so during the winter. Good plan. Have Butler learn to play 1B when you and most of the coaching staff are not around. Sounded like he just didn't want to have to deal with Butler's crappy defense this month so pushed the problem off to the next manager. God I'm cynical.

Chiefs' First Drive Today
Star says J-Dealer will only make 605-65 pitches
so hopefully that means some Hochevar time

errr, make that 60-65 pitches

1st run in for the Tigers
OK, that is no good.
What would be nice.
de la Rosa, Hochevar and Nunez each getting two or three innings in these last two "de la Rosa" starts. Just to see 50 or so pitches from all of them.
Only bad pitch was to Raburn
Meanwhile, Back At
Okay, now it's 4-0
Who will score more today:
So far, not looking good for the Jefes. (Or the Royals...)
Right down the middle

On the bright side:
Someone should teach De La Rosa
I think that's all he is missing: a fundamental understanding of what constitutes victory in baseball.

He just looks frustrated out on the mound
He did come back strong,
It will be hard as hell to be Verlander after spotting him a four run lead.
Muhammud Hali
I really thinking watching JDLR pitch
its odd how this organization
Chiefs have had 4 possessions
42 pitches for J-Dealer in the first frame

this was more of a guys weekend though, so that was nice
Last time I went back to Dayton
Nothing looked quite as nice as I remembered it being, and campus was smaller than I remember it being. And I was unhappy with some of the changes. The, "you can never go home" feeling.
The world of our memories is always better than the world of our lives.
Smith K's, shocker
They're Not Booing
Gload tagged him, BS
one question, now that the season is nearly over

Christ stop that Leo.
Yeah, kinda in the same vein as,...
That is a pretty good picture.
OK, moving on now. Trying to study, chat about the Royals, watch baseball, keep an eye on the NFL, no time for the lovely Ms. Royals de jure.

hochevar having a pretty impressive debut
I'm guessing they're letting him throw all of his pitches now.
Must be. He has thrown a few curves.
I'm glad he is pitching this well. If he busts it will just be killer to the Royals hopes of fielding a winning team in 2009+.

This is the first multi-walk game for Gordon since
And it's only the third game in September in which he's drawn a walk.
By comparison, he had 7 games in April with walks, 3 of which were for two or more walks.
LJ No Longer
Chiefs 6
My mistake, I thought that was Emil.
Buddy wanted a right handed pinch hitter and went to Emil instead of Huber. In a 6-2 game in a non-pressure situation. Same old same old.
Tigers Thank Buddy
I doubt it.
2007--On my summer trip, the Royals won two of three in Detroit.
you know, with a little creativity
But I guess that's just piling on Buddy. He'll be gone soon enough.

You know it hurts to lose now as bad as it did in April. See you in tommorrow in Baltimore. I am hoping for a Meche win.

As someone on this board....
Jorge De La Rosa....Jorge De La Sucks. Will that wise person please stand up?
Seriously, though...DLR looks more and more like back-of-the-rotation filler or a middle reliever than a dependable starter at this point....
