Game 142 Open Thread- Yankees (80-62) at Royals (62-79)

One last game against the Yankees this season, with the Royals still looking for that elusive second victory.

The Yankees send groundball master Chien-Ming Wang (17-6, 3.68 ERA) to the mound, while the Royals counter with Zack Greinke (6-5, 3.87 ERA). One interesting note: in 173.2 innings, Wang has 87 strikeouts, in 100.0 innings, Greinke has 86.

I can't wait to see Huber not play again. At least he's getting a prorated big league minimum salary, that brings me some solace. Heck, at this point, I'd even be happy to see Costa get a start.

Finally, not only has the recent losing streak brought the White Sox closer to the Royals for fourth place, its also likely cost the Royals a shot at snagging third. Yes, third, the Twins have lost six straight and are now 69-73.

My day is complete again.....
I am hoping for a Huber sighting today.  But, knowing Fuddo, we will probably see Lala and Smith, our two power hitters, in the lineup.

I hope Zack has his A game today and that we get lucky with Wanger and he has a bad outing.

I am trying hard to be optimistic.  When the Yanks finally blow town I will be one happy camper.   I hate the Yankees....

Zack a fastball to Jeter's face would make my day.

Lawnmower Man v Yankees
"Greinke has no record and a 14.73 ERA in three relief appearances this season against the Yankees. In three career starts versus New York, he is 1-2 with a 6.89 ERA.

Jason Giambi is 3-for-6 with two homers against Greinke."

Jason Smith with KC this year:
KCR AL  28   54    8   10   0  0   5   11   0  0   2  15  .185  .211  .463   67   25   0   1   0

Two very different roads to .463 SLG.

Jason Smith...
I hate him, not because of anything bad he's done, but because he's THAT GUY, that makes Buddy cream his uniform pants. I just don't understand why he is playing at all this last month of the season. Same with Gload.

I Didn't See
Bannister's gopher balls, but Denny said Greinke pretty much grooved the 2-1; that's not necessary. At least see if he'll chase one low and away or up and in.

Not sure what to make of Bale for 2008
He has had some games with lots of Ks - dominant but then he gives up the big hit like today.

Would you trust John Bale as primary LOOGY or long reliever and deal Jimmy Gobble for hitting?

May the Royals take a lesson on how to get runs
scored.  Walk, successful sac bunt, base hit.  KC has been trying this all year with little success.  Can't bunt and can't seem to sac bunt well.

Another reason why the Yankees offense is so good.  I also like a guy with 50+ HRs too.  Think ARod would play SS for 2008 Royals?  Would Buddy move his lineup position every day if he did?

Oh well, we'll never know the answer.
