Spring Training Game 15 Open Thread

Royals v. Angels today. Spring Training, week two. Our lives will never, ever, be the same.

Being a teacher during the days before Spring Break is one of the most frustrating things ever: no one doing the work, no one paying attention in class, tons of absences and lots of people showing up to class, then leaving during it. And on and on. I could say more, but I won't. I'm trying to be a nicer person now.

After seeing NYRoyal's post on Soria, I decided to hold off on the Radio Affiliate Profile for a day or so. So to the one or two of you miffed about that un-kept promise, I apologize. Ray from Royals on the Radio, Etc. has posted an interview with one of the top 50 or so Royals bloggers around so if you get super bored, you can check that out.

Speaking of interviews, here's the kind I should do.

Good interview
Although I really think you whiffed in not calling the White Sox and White Sox fans the most annoying in the division, the compounding that by admitting your fondness for Hawk Harrelson. Then you say you hate the Cubs fan.

Closet White Sox fan?????

nea... unrelated
I am just used to White Sox fans, and sorta like their edginess, shall we say. In the context of Chicagoland, I find them much preferable to the Cubs.

it's funny: the sketchiest pitcher
right now in ST looks like Bannister.

of course ST is like reading tea leaves.  but he hasn't looked good.  sophomore slump coming up?

What does that tell you?  STSAM
I probably disagree with you.

I would venture guess
Banny more than most guys uses ST as a chance to work on material so you're not seeing his best stuff.

Plus, its an extremely small sample size.

I like him in a somewhat ironic way
yes... like... i mean, i'd hate to watch a game in person with him, but his antics amuse me, because no one takes them seriously... its the supposed wise men with greater platforms that really bug me

and again, when the white sox are losing, its awesome listening to him

by royalsreview on Mar 13, 2008 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

When the White Sox are losing...
...he is the most fun broadcaster to listen to.  His pain/anger/sadness/insanity is palpable.  He loves to blame the umpires for conspiring against the Sox.  It is delicious to hear him wallow in a good, painful loss.  But if the Sox are winning, I have to turn the sound off.
I probably disagree with you.

Sharing the frustration
Being a teacher during the days before Spring Break is one of the most frustrating things ever: no one doing the work, no one paying attention in class, tons of absences and lots of people showing up to class, then leaving during it. And on and on. I could say more, but I won't. I'm trying to be a nicer person now.

What makes this even worse is knowing you will be spending all break grading mid-terms and papers while the kids are having fun.

The weather is so close to perfect here in Lawrence that I swear I can see the face of God in the sky.  And my beloved Hawks are on the road for the next two weeks.  The miserable irony of it all.
