Alex Gordon could have another reason to celebrate the 4th of July

If Gordon continues to hit at his current pace, then he will have accumulated more WAR this season by July 4th, than he has in the rest of his career. Just a fun little fact

"Alex expressed a lack of comfort at third and it was affecting his offense." -- Dayton Moore,...

"Alex expressed a lack of comfort at third and it was affecting his offense." -- Dayton Moore, when asked about Alex's move to left field. The quote's a little ambiguous, but seems to imply that Gordon got moved off third at least in part because of his own lack of comfort fielding the position. Apologies if this was already posted somewhere.

Do over: Re-drafting the class of 2005

Says we'd take Zimmerman and that Gordon would have then been taken by Cleveland, still in the first round. I think when I look at the situation, I sometimes overlook the fact that he'd still be a top-half of the first round pick, even in retrospect. All too often, picks plummet and fail to justify selection in the first 20 rounds. I know we talk about this all the time, but it's so crazy to see how "off" each round of the draft can be.

Bring Gordon Back Up

Toward the bottom of this link: Left fielder Alex Gordon seems to be finding his swing at Class AAA Omaha. He went three for five with two homers Friday night in a 10-7 victory at Reno, which makes him seven for 16 with five walks in his last four games. Gordon is now batting .324 with five homers in 10 games for the O-Royals. He also carried a .457 on-base percentage and a .784 slugging percentage into Saturday night’s game at Las Vegas. Ridiculous. I'm wondering, if he's too comfortable in Omaha, should the team send him somewhere else for these assignments? Otherwise, get the kid back in KC. - TL

Omaha World-Herald Article on the Gordon Move

This is a nice piece. In it Moore reaffirms Gordon's value to the organization. I appreciate the "not according to script" metaphor. I'm convinced Gordon will be back in KC soon---a more versatile player and hopefully on a hot streak. - TL

Gameday Preview says Gordon's "likely" to start at 3rd today

1

I agree that Alex is likely to play, but does anyone feel that Hillman will coddle him in the upcoming weeks? I just have this suspicion that we'll see him missing some starts or something, like a Bloomquist at 2b and Callaspo at 3rd with Gordon on the bench versus lefties. I'll pull my hair out. On the bright side, out of the group of players performing over their heads right now, Callaspo's not one of them, and his play doesn't seem likely to threaten Gordon for a spot at 3rd. I'd hope that's a moot point with Getz on the DL, but as long as Bloomy roams the mlb clubhouse, we'll have room for uncertainty. That being said, what does everything think Alex is going to do in his next 5 games?

Just sayin...

Just for grins, I was curious what Smirky's line was vs. PECOTA (BP's projection system). I put his actual to date, then projected over 162 games (actually assumed we were at game 108 so there's a...

Gordon Evolves

All last year and early this year, Alex Gordon had trouble with pitches away. He either swung and missed them entirely or tried to pull them and grounded weakly or occasionally popped up. Only his...
