Kansas to go for sweep of #1 Texas. First Pitch 1PM at Hoglund

+

Kansas rallied from a 3-1 sixth inning deficit to defeat the #1 ranked Texas Longhorns Saturday at Hoglund Field. The Jayhawks have won back to back one run games and will go for the series sweep Sunday at 1PM. Freshman Lee Ridenhour (3-1) will get his first weekend start in Sunday’s game. He will be opposed by Texas sophomore Cole Green (2-0). First pitch at 1PM. This is all very surprising. Sadly game three will happen at the same time as the Kansas - Dayton NCAA basketball game so I expect a small turnout today.

KU is playing a three game series vs. #7 Arizona State in Suprise, AZ. ASU won Friday 9-4. Before game two KU visited with the Royals. They must have been inspired because they pulled off a 3-2 upset that night. I love this quote: "It was a great experience," senior relief pitcher Paul Smyth said of the morning with the Royals. "Being able to watch the big team work out was something not many people get to do. Every one there, from the players to the staff, treated us first class." "My favorite parts were talking with George Brett, and watching (Royals’ catcher) John Buck take BP in our pinwheel hat while he bet dinner with (former ASU standout) Willie Bloomquist on our game last night. Hope dinner was good." Bloomy bets against my beloved Jayhawks. One more mark against him. 1. Sucks at baseball. 2. Takes a roster spot away from Shealy. 3. Hates on KU. It might be a while before I learn to love this one.
