Brewers manager Ron Roenicke called Hairston a "plus" center fielder

— sure Ron, he of the -39 UZR/150 in CF this season, -3 in OF overall. His career numbers are above average because of a phenomenal 2006 season and an okay 2008.

Of course, all the typical SSS disclaimers apply here (and even more so, since this is fielding data). Nevertheless, Janish is 5th in the league, and Votto isn't far behind at fielding their respective positions. Bruce, Phillips, and Heisey are all solidly above average. Only Renteria has a significantly lower than average UZR. And the BIG shock... Everyone's (least?) favorite LF - 0.5 runs to the good! Seriously! Look it up!
