Like all throwaway predictions, the beauty is that if I'd been wrong no one would care, but on the off-chance that it was fulfilled, it looks great.
The Royals got four hits last night, but three of them ocurred in sequence to start the 4th inning. Thats either lucky, extremely clutch, or largely random, but we'll take it.
Harkening back to the glorious days of July, the Sisco-Affeldt-MacDougal combination was awesome, shutting down Oakland and turning a 2-1 lead into a miraculous 2-1 win.
All the mean things I said about Buddisimo Bell still stand of course, but at least we don't have to worry about being historically bad for awhile. Plus -- and this sounds really strange -- the Royals have a shot to take the series tonight in Oakland, as Runelvys Hernandez (8-11, 5.10 ERA) takes on Joe Blanton (7-9, 3.94 ERA).
And yes, getting last night's win was doubly huge, because the prospect of heading to Boston, with the potential record in site would have probably made the Royals-Sox series national news.
