The Royals go for their third straight series victory this afternoon against the Brewers at the K. The Royals got what they needed on Saturday: a win, a nice (if lucky as hell) start from Ducky, some reasonable hitting and great relief pitching from Elmer-Gobble-Burgos.
Today's game features the latest incarnation of Rick Helling (0-1, 11.81 ERA) who's somewhere on comeback number 3. Now 35, Helling's far removed from his 20-win season in 1998, but as late as 2003 he was highly effective with the Marlins as a reliever.
(By the way, I'm literally listening to Matt Diaz being interviewed on the Braves pregame, they're discussing his lack of playing time in Kansas City and getting DFA'ed after hitting .300 in AAA (laughs). Good to see someone survived the Royals at least.)
The Royals send Mark Redman (4-4, 5.95 ERA), who's proudly gone 4-0 since a rough start (albeit with a fairly average 4.73 ERA in that time). Its another huge game for the 23 win Royals as they look to bank yet another victory on the road to avoiding history. On that note, remember to vote on when the Royals will grab their 35th victory.
