The Royals look for payback tonight against the happy-go-lucky Red Sox and the Fenway magic/mystique/hype. With the Tigers and White Sox playing one another, the Royals can gain ground either way with a win, cutting into their 30-game debt in the AL Central. Nevertheless, our heroes face long odds, considering their 4-16 record against the AL East, and 13-37 mark on the road.
The Royals entrust a large part of tonight's fate to Brandon Duckworth (1-2, 5.40 ERA) who's making his career debut against the Red Sox (slightly weird, considering he's made 72 career starts). The Red Sox counter with Jon Lester (4-0, 2.89 ERA), a 22 year old rookie.
Personally, I've hardly wanted a win worse than tonight's clash. I seriously hope Ducky either shuts down the Sox, or buzzes a fastball somewhere near the front thigh of Manny, Youkillis or (gasp!) the beloved David Ortiz, who was out last night, by the way.
