1. Ross Gload was born in Brooklyn, New York. One of the largest feeder cities for Major League Baseball, around 200 big leaguers have been born in Brooklyn, including Joe Torre, Lou Whitaker, Phil Rizzuto, Paul Lo Duca, Sandy Koufax, Shawon Dunston and David DeJesus.
2. The Royals are Gload's fourth team. He made his Major League debut with the Cubs on August 31, 2000, an 11-5 loss to the Padres.
3. Ross Gload has hit 12 career homers. In his three years with the White Sox he blasted 10 homers. Gload is currently tied with 13 other sox for 186th on the White Sox all time list. Among those 13? Bucky Dent, Mike Devereaux and current Sock Brian Anderson.
4. According to whoever wrote his wikipedia biography, Gload's mother was a hall monitor, a harsh one.
5. Somehow Gload finished 7th in the 2004 Rookie of the Year voting, with 4 points. He finished three points ahead of John Buck who actually recieved a vote and was in a three-way tie for 8th. That season Greinke finished 4th and DeJesus took 6th.
