The Battle for Grass Creek, Wyoming resumes this weekend, this time on our turf, as the Royals look to gain sweet revenge -- a dish best served cold -- on the evil Mariners.
Just when you thought Royals-Mariners couldn't get any more tension-filled, somehow it gets raised a notch. That certainly will be the case this evening at the K, with our heroic rotation helmsman Gil Meche (3-2 2.44 ERA) once again facing his former team with vengeance on his mind. If that wasn't enough, "55" will be squaring off against the so-called "King Felix" (2-2, 2.77 ERA), he of the mounting fame. (Seattle perspective on Meche's awesomeness and the complete vindication of Dayton Moore's foresight, here.)
Most certainly, a sellout crowd shall witness this titanic clash, especially that its Whit Friday and Royals-Mariners. Last night's crowd of 11,681 should not be taken as a pathetic showing (with a sweeeep on the line no less!?!?), but rather as a collective breath-taking by the fanbase, a brief respite before a torrent of hate is unleashed upon the invaders from Seattle.
