Royals Hold on For a 5-4 Win. Bullpen Makes It Interesting. Again

The Royals just love to keep it interesting and tonight was no different.  It marks the 5th time they won by just one run this season.  It didn't need to be that close.  Bruce Chen was dealing and didn't allow a couple of runs until the 7th inning.  The Royals had scored 5 runs by then and the bullpen had to hold on to a 3 run lead for 2 innings.  They didn't lose the game game, but they sure tried.  3 hits, 1 walk, 1 HBP, 2 runs later and a magical 6 outs ...  the Royals hold on for the win.

Here are some other highlights:

  • Billy Butler gets credited with a steal.  He was on the back end of a double steal, but it was his 2nd ever.
  • Alex Gordon makes a great catch near the left field.
  • Brayan Pena holds on the ball for a great put out at the plate in the 7th inning.
