Duffy Shelled and Offense Couldn't Make Up the Difference, Royals Lose 9-7

Quick Hits:

  • Home plate umpire Kerwin Danley was all over the place tonight. One of the most inconsistent strike zones called in a game I have seen in a long time. It made the game just horrible to watch. Hitters and pitchers both had no clue what was going to be called what. Ned got thrown for arguing with Danley after visiting Duffy on the mound in the 4th inning.
  • Duffy was not good. 3 IP, 8 runs, 8H, 3 K's, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 90 pitches. Only 10 of this 22 first pitches were strikes.
  • Nova was just about as bad. 5.1 IP, 7 Runs, 9 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks.
  • Butler showed off some wheelz by going from 1st to home on Hosmer's double. Also, he took 2B on a blocked ball.
  • 2 through 5 in the Royals lineup did most of the damage by going 7 for 16. Melky had a home run.
  • Perez had a nice 2 RBI double in the 6th inning.
  • The only RP for either team to give up a run was Crow with 1 run allowed in the 7th.
  • The Yankees could have score more runs as they stranded 10 runners in the game compared to the Royals only stranding 2.
