Royals Fire Hitting Coach Kevin Seitzer

Disappointing season leads Royals to let go popular hitting instructor.

Tom Szczerbowski-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Royals are holding their end-of-the-year press conference and have announced they will not renew the contract of hitting instructor Kevin Seitzer. Seitzer, a former Royals player who owns the popular baseball complex "Mac-n-Seitz" in town, had just completed his fourth season as hitting instructor with the club. The Royals finished twelfth in the league in runs scored in 2012, finishing last in walks and strikeouts, and next-to-last in home runs. In his four seasons, the Royals finished 13th, 10th, 6th, and 12th in the league runs scored. The club had finished in the top five in the league in batting average in each of the past three seasons and finished as high as fifth in OPS in 2011.

Yost has said he would like to "hire from within." Your 2013 Royals Hitting Instructor is.....Jason Kendall.
