In two weeks Yuni Betancourt has moved from bench option to super sub to possibly something more at second base. When asked if Betancourt could be the starting 2B, manager Ned Yost offered:

"There's always that chance," manager Ned Yost said, adding: "He's played extremely well defensively over there. In order for our pitching to get better, we need to have a solid defense behind them."

"Yuni's come in and looked phenomenal at second, Getzy's a different player than he was last year, I mean a totally different player [offensively]," Yost said. "It's going to be a tough call there because all three of them are neck and neck."

I'm really starting to think this is all an elaborate plan to make us want to bring Chris Getz back. It's working too. Essentially, none of these guys will hit. Gio will give you an extra double every 10 days and Betancourt will give you an extra homer and that's about it. If Getz is truly the best option defensively, maybe he's just the best option period.
