Royals 2012 Day Two Draft Wrap-up Thread

The draft will continue through Round 15 today, but I'm going to put this up as a wrap-up thread in case you don't want to go through the entire Open Thread. I'll update this as we get more picks.

Round 2 Royals select LHP Sam Selman, Vanderbilt University. Lefty who can throw low-to-mid-90s, but has trouble commanding his breaking stuff. Eiland will fix him.

Round 3 Royals select LHP Colin Rodgers, Parkview Baptist HS (Baton Rouge, LA). Plus curveball, with a high 80s fastball that can hit 90. An Auburn commit.

Round 4 Royals select 2B Kenny Diekroger, Stanford University. Big-time prospect out of high school who turned down a $2 million bonus to go to Stanford. Great freshman year but has been disappointing since. Can play all over the infield, but lacks power.

Round 5 Royals select C Chad Johnson, Galesburg HS (Galesburg, IL). Signable left-handed catcher who has some power projection, but is average to below-average tools-wise thus far.

Round 6 Royals select RHP Zach Lovvorn, Oxford HS (Oxford, AL). 6'2''180, with a low-90s fastball that wore down as the season progressed. Committed to Samford.

Round 7 Royals select OF Fred Ford, Jefferson College (Mo.). O'Fallon native led his junior college team hit 29 home runs in two seasons and has good speed. Committed to Western Kentucky.

Round 8 Royals select SS Alfredo Escalera-Maldonaldo, The Pendleton School (Bradenton, FL). 6'0'' wiry shortstop with decent speed and power potential. Commit to Florida State.

Round 9 Royals select LHP Daniel Stumpf, San Jacinto Junior College (Tex.). 6'2'' lefty can throw in low-90s, touching 94 on occasion. Average changeup, cutter, and slider. Already 22 years old and expected to sign.

Round 10 Royals select OF Alexis Rivera, Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.). Bulky 6'2'' 230 outfielder bats lefty and popped four home runs his senior season. Was named team captain and was praised for his work ethic.

Thoughts thus far?
