Guthrie pitched as good of a game as any starter has all season. He allowed 5 base runners over 7 innings with no runs scored. Good job Jeremy.

  • The A's lineup is horrible. 7 of their hitters have an AVG of 0.253 or lower. Heck, the Royals only have 3 hitting that low (Moose, Hosmer and Frenchy).
  • Tim Collins struck out all 3 batters he faced and set the Royals record for most strikeouts by a lefty reliever passing Andy "Big Boy" Sisco.
  • The Royals did all their damage in the 5th inning with 2 walks, 2 singles, a double, 2 sacrifice flies, and an error.
  • Hacker of the game (tie - 2 P/PA) - Escobar: 8 pitches in 4 PA, Frenchy: 6 pitches in 3 PA
  • For some unknown reason Holland pitched the 9th inning, with a 5 run lead, against the weak hitting A's. Their is no reason Holland should have been in the game or Yost still managing.
