An entire nation sat enraptured by the epic contest being waged between two veteran catchers in Royals camp. Some were on Team Kottaras. Others were on Team Hayes. Two men entered Surprise, Arizona. Only one will depart.
#Royals keep George Kottaras over Brett Hayes as backup to starting catcher Salvy Perez.

Hat tip to HarryL, our eye in the sky.
So that's that. Hayes has already cleared waivers and has 24 hours to decide if he wants to report to Omaha.
Yost said the two were even the entire spring, but he wanted a left-handed bat off the bench. Although there were concerns about Kottaras' defense when he was acquired, there were some accounts that the team thought his defense was just fine.
The 29 year old Kottaras hit .211./351/.415 in 209 plate appearances for the Brewers and last season.
