The Arizona Diamondbacks today announced they have claimed pitcher Nate Adcock off waivers from the Royals. Adcock had been designated for assignment last week to make room for (EDIT: infielder, but really, does it matter?)
pitcher Edinson Rincon, who they claimed off waivers from the San Diego Padres. Adcock was optioned to AAA Reno which is like being sentenced to Siberia for pitchers.
Adcock had spent parts of two seasons with the Royals since being acquired from the Pittsburgh in the Rule 5 Draft in December of 2010. A groundball pitcher who relies on his sinker and does not strike out many, Adcock pitched reasonably well in low-leverage situations, with a 3.79 ERA in 60 career games with the Royals, although with just 58 strikeouts in 95 innings pitched.
The twenty-six year old right-hander was struggling mightily in AAA Omaha, with a 7.09 ERA in ten games, with a 28-23 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 47 innings of work.
How will you remember the Nate Adcock era? And give us your dirtiest puns you immature dorks.
