The Royals submitted a roster today for the game that included 26 players, which is kind of illegal. So to remedy that, they placed Chris Getz on the 15-day disabled list to make room for newly acquired outfielder Justin Maxwell.
OK then. Getz to the D.L. to make room for Maxwell. Wow. That was a lot less painful that originally thought. #Royals

Getz has not played since July 27 against Chicago and has been battling a sore knee for a few weeks. Miguel Tejada gets his fifth straight start at second base today, and it appears he will be the starter for now, with Elliot Johnson serving as the only reserve infielder.
With the Royals now carrying five outfielders, they will have an interesting decision when Getz is healthy enough to return from the disabled list. But if they can carry on fine without him, you have to wonder if this is the last we have seen of Chris Getz in a Royals uniform.
