We expected Wade Davis and Louis Coleman to be back today: recalled from Wilmington where they had been stashed for just a few days.
I did not expect that Johnny Giavotella, Carlos Pena, Pedro Ciriaco and Donnie Joseph would be pulled from the playoff bound Omaha Storm Chasers and sent to Kansas City. I don't mind it, not one bit, but am surprised that Dayton Moore pulled the trigger given his love for post-season success....in the minors.
To make room for Pena and Ciriaco on the 40 man roster, the always disappointing Noel Arguelles was pushed to the 60 day disabled list and Edinson Rincon was designated for assignment.
This is a playoff push move to give Ned Yost more weapons (such that they are). While Ned with more options does not always seem like a good thing, I could see some value in having Pena off the bench to pinch hit and Joseph coming out of the pen.
Hey, why not?
