The Royals finally took the lead in the sixth after Norichika Aoki reached on a line-drive single to the gap in left-center.
Enter Jarrod Dyson.
After 132 throws to the vicinity of first over the course of the next two batters, Eric Hosmer finally roped a one-out single, advancing Dyson to third.
Exeunt Wei-Yin Chen.
Enter Kevin Gausman.
Billy Butler sent a fly ball to left, and that was all it took for Dyson to cross the plate safely.
Kelvin Herrera locked it down in the top of the seventh.
Gausman kept the Royals in check in the bottom of the seventh.
