The Royals are trailing by a score of 3-0. James Shields recovered from a dreadful first inning by giving up a lot of contact in the second but not allowing a baserunner. He has not looked good in this game, continuing the trend from his previous post-season starts.
On the other side, Madison Bumgarner has been struck well by the Royals hitters, giving up solid contact to three batters in the first that were all converted into outs. Butler broke through in the second with a lead-off single. Gordon proceeded with a soft line out to short, and Perez then grounded into a 1-4-3 double play.
Could be worse. Buster Posey could have scored. So. There's that, I guess.
