The All-Star left-fielder should be ready in plenty of time for Opening Day.

The Royals announced today that left-fielder Alex Gordon had successful surgery on his right wrist today. Chris Fickett of the Star reports Gordon felt discomfort during off-season workouts, and the surgery was to repair his right wrist extensor retinaculum. Jeff Rosen reports Gordon will be ready by spring training in eight weeks, but there is no official timetable.

Gordon is coming off a season in which he hit .261/.351/.432 with 19 HR 74 RBI, but hit just .190 with one home run in the month of September, and hit .204/.317/.370 in the post-season.
