Game 5 Open Thread - Royals vs. White Sox

Sunday's game features a great pitching matchup and a chance for the Royals to sweep their first home series.

Ed Zurga

The Kansas City Royals are looking for their first series sweep of the season Sunday as they face off against the Chicago White Sox.

Fans watching this game should see a great pitching matchup; James Shields will take the mound for Kansas City, opposed by Chris Sale for Chicago. Shields pitched effectively in his first start of the season, but did not overpower the Tigers on Opening Day, allowing three runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings. Sale also allowed three runs in his first start of the season, but worked 7 1/3 against the Twins and whiffed eight batters.

I'm writing this preview before the lineups have been posted, so I hope that Ned Yost is starting Danny Valencia at third base over Mike Moustakas. That move, however, may count as "getting in his dome" too early in the season. Also, Justin Maxwell should probably play RF sometime in the next two days over Norichika Aoki (Royals face another lefty in Matt Moore tomorrow), or else I'm not sure why he's on the roster.

This should be an entertaining game, so flip on FSKC/MLB.TV and watch some baseball on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Song of the Day: John Legend & The Roots - Hard Times

John Legend and The Roots released a pretty awesome collaborative album in 2010 titled Wake Up! and "Hard Times" is the first song on the CD. Most of the album is covers, including this remake of a classic Baby Huey track.
