Well, the good news just keeps coming. Fresh off the heels of the devastating possibility that Yordano Ventura could miss extensive time following an elbow injury in last night's ballgame, the Royals announced today that top pitching prospect Kyle Zimmer will be out a significant amount of time with a strain to his right latissimus dorsi muscle.

The twenty-two year old right-hander was expected to report to AA Northwest Arkansas to begin his season sometime this week. The 2012 first round pick with 6-9 with a 4.32 ERA with 140 strikeouts in 108.1 innings last year for Wilmington and Northwest Arkansas.

The Royals report Zimmer will begin playing catch in 6-8 weeks, and there is no official timetable for his return. Assistant General Manager J.J. Piccolo said Zimmer suffered tightness in a throwing session May 19, which led to a significan decline in velocity. Royals team doctors have ruled out structural damage.

So its just a great news day. How was your Memorial Day weekend? Did your dog die? Let's talk about it.
