The Kansas City Royals will look to win the rubber match on Sunday when they wrap up their three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium.
Jeremy Guthrie, today's Royals starter, has basically been the same pitcher this season that he was last year; through 16 starts, the veteran owns a 3.75 ERA, 4.55 FIP and .6 fWAR. His ERA will probably creep back over 4.00 during the second half of the season, but he should continue giving the Royals not great, but not awful performances.
C.J. Wilson will take the mound for the Angels. The southpaw has posted a 3.70 ERA with a 3.90 FIP in his first 16 starts of the season. Wilson's 22.8% K% is nice, but his 9.4% BB% holds him back from repeating his 2011 performance with the Texas Rangers.
Time for your Eric Hosmer update: .249/.290/.350, -.9 fWAR. David Lesky of Pine Tar Press brings us the Royals batting order:
