Game 85 Open Thread - Kansas City Royals (44-40) vs. Cleveland Indians (41-43)

Throw fire! For America!

Duane Burleson

Josh Tomlin goes for the Indians today. Tomlin has always been a fantastic command pitcher - he led the league in fewest walks per nine innings in 2011 and has given up more home runs (10) than walks (9) this year. However, his strikeout rate has spiked considerably this year, up to 8.1 per nine innings, despite a fastball that runs in the high 80s. In his last outing, he struck out eleven hitters with no walks in a one-hit complete game shutout against the Mariners. Not bad for a Tommy John survivor.

Yordano Ventura should be pretty fresh after throwing just four innings in a rain-delayed game last time out. Its kind of crazy he has seven losses and a losing record to go with his 3.26 ERA, but these are your Royals. I guess he lacks THE WILL TO WIN.
