The Kansas City Royals will attempt to put last night's disappointing game behind them and rebound against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field on Sunday.
Jeremy Guthrie will take the mound for Kansas City. Guthrie has not pitched particularly well this season, owning a 4.45 ERA with a 4.48 FIP. Somehow, his 15% K% is the highest strikeout percentage he has posted since 2008. It's really a miracle that he's never pitched for the Twins.
Opposing Guthrie will be the recently acquired Tommy Milone. Milone, who sent to Minnesota by the Oakland Athletics for Sam Fuld, has posted a respectable 3.52 ERA over 17 starts. His 4.59 FIP, along with his Guthrian 15.3% K%, suggest the southpaw has benefited from some unsustainable luck (like a .266 BABIP).
Jarrod Dyson and Mike Moustakas are both starting against a lefty, while Omar Infante remains planted in the No. 2 spot despite his .296 OBP. David Lesky of Pine Tar Press brings us the Royals lineup:
