Regardless of whether they earn home field advantage for the entire playoffs, the Royals will open up their first post-season game on Thursday, October 8 against an opponent yet to be determined. Playoff times are also yet to be determined. The Royals will also host Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Friday, October 9. Games 3 and 4 will be played on the road on Sunday, October 11 and Monday, October 12. If necessary, the Royals will return home for Game 5 on Wednesday, October 14. The Royals will hold a public rally for the team next week as they prepare for their second consecutive post-season appearance. Admission and parking are free. Fans can gather at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, October 6 to watch interviews with players and hear General Manager Dayton Moore and manager Ned Yost speak, with the event hosted by Ryan Lefebvre and Rex Hudler. Royals players will take batting practice and the team will open doors to the team store so fans can purchase post-season merchandise.
Gates to the Truman sports Complex open at 10 a.m. with the stadium opening at 11:15 a.m. The rally will start at 12:15 p.m. with batting practice at 1 p.m. The event concludes at 2:30 p.m. The Royals held a similar rally last year.
