The Royals signed first baseman Cody Decker to a minor league contract this week, and he is expected to play at Omaha and serve as depth in case the Royals need a right-handed hitting power bat some time next season. The 28-year old has had a nice minor league career since being taken in the 22nd round by the Padres out of UCLA in 2009. He has 154 career home runs in the minors, was a member of the 2012 Team Israel team in the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, and his walk-up music was once the theme to Doctor Who, but that is not what makes him notable enough for a story here today.
Cody Decker is a bit more than your average ballplayer. He is a man of many talents. For starters, the media found out about his signing when he trolled fans on Twitter, teasing them about where he had signed.
After hours of pleading with my agent, he informed me "No! You cannot sit at a table with 3 hats on it like its national signing day!".....

Cody Decker is a singer. Here he is performing Jailhouse Rock.
Cody Decker is a film critic.
Fantastic 4 was like watching a $100 million student film by someone who was told what the Fantastic 4 is 2nd hand and, just, shot the gist.

Cody Decker is a master of disguise. He does not just toss on a scary mask for Halloween and call it a day.
Cody Decker is an actor. He landed a cameo in the short-lived ABC action drama State of Affairs starring Katherine Heigl. Here is about to get blown up.
Hard to believe that show didn't make it. Decker laments that his character had so much more to offer.
"My biggest complaint is they killed off such a pivotal character … Security Guard 1," Decker said. "Who knows what he could have been? But some people just panic."
Cody Decker is a filmmaker. He has produced a number of short videos on his YouTube page for Antihero Baseball/Daylight Films. Among them are "Brad", a tribute to his personal hero, former catcher Brad Ausmus, but his most famous film is "On Jeff Ears." In that film, he plays an epic prank on former Royals outfielder Jeff Francoeur, then his teammate with the El Paso Chihuahuas. It is nothing less than the most amazing prank you have ever seen.
Finally, Cody Decker is a lover. His main squeeze is none other than TV personality and former object of Brett Favre's unwanted attention, Jenn Sterger.
Welcome to the organization Cody. You will certainly be a fan favorite.
