The Royals have called up outfielder Terrance Gore from AA Northwest Arkansas, according to 610 Sports, to replace outfielder Alex Rios on the roster. Rios will be placed on the 15-day disabled list and will likely miss at least a month with a broken left pinky finger.
The 23-year old Gore was called up last September to serve as a pinch-runner for the Royals, and ended up on the post-season roster as well. He appeared in eleven games, stealing five bases, although he was only allowed two plate appearances (getting hit by a pitch, and grounding out to the pitcher).
Gore is not much of a hitter, with a lifetime line of .234/.342/.268 in the minor leagues. The right-hander was hitless in twelve at-bats with the Naturals, with three walks and two steals.
Ned Yost also announced that Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson will platoon in the outfield to replace Rios in the starting lineup, although Lorenzo Cain will not move over from center-field, rather Dyson will be asked to play right field. Dyson has played just two innings in right field in his Major League career.
