The Royals have announced they have demoted outfielder Terrance Gore back to AA Northwest Arkansas and promoted outfielder Reymond Fuentes from AAA Omaha. The 24-year old Fuentes is a left-handed hitting outfielder acquired from the Padres this past off-season in a trade for pitcher Kyle Bartsch. Gore did not appear in a game after being promoted on Wednesday to replace the injured Alex Rios.
The left-handed hitting Fuentes was once a top prospect for the Red Sox before being dealt to San Diego in the Adrian Gonzalez trade. The former first-round pick is a .277/.348/.379 career hitter in the minors with 33 plate appearances in the big leagues with San Diego in 2013. He was hitting .444/.524/.500 in six games with Omaha. Fuentes does not have much power, but has great speed, stealing 189 bases in just over six minor league seasons.
