Game 10 Open Thread - Oakland Athletics (5-5) vs. Kansas City Royals (7-2)

Let's hand out some hardware before the game.

The Royals host the A's for what should be a rockin' weekend at the K provided the rains stay away. Billy Butler returns to town for the first time in that awful kelly green and yellow, and he'll receive his American League Champions ring which would probably upset his teammates if any of his current teammates had been part of the Wild Card team last year. The A's totally overturned the roster, showing there is as much continuity in the A's organization as there is salads in Billy Butler's diet.

Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, and Salvador Perez will also receive their Gold Gloves before the game, although they should at least let Lorenzo Cain stand up there too in protest.

As for actual baseball activities, the A's have gotten off to a so-so start, winning half of their first ten games, although seven of those games have come against the Astros and Rangers. Four of their five wins have come by shutout, with three of them huge blow outs. They outscored opponents 34-0 in those games, and have been outscored 33-22 otherwise.

Sonny Gray is one of the most promising young pitchers in the league. The right-hander sits at 92-93 with a slider, curveball, and change up. The Royals have struggled against him in his young career, hitting just .184/.231/.265 in two starts against him. In 15 1/3 innings this year, Gray has given up just one earned run.

Should be a fun crowd tonight with a nice ovation for Billy upon his return. Here are your lineups:
