Game 11 Open Thread - Oakland Athletics (5-6) vs. Kansas City Royals (8-2)

All eyes are on Brett Lawrie tonight.

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

The Royals and Athletics continue their series after a wonderfully-entertaining opener on Friday. All eyes will be on Brett Lawrie, whose hard slide caused a mild contusion to Alcides Escobar that will keep him out of the lineup today, but does not sound like a serious injury that will keep him out of action long.

There's a lot of confusion over who texted who and it sounds like a big cover up that goes all the way to the top. The umpires say no warnings will be given before the game, so this should be.....interesting.

Yordano Ventura will go to the mound today, making his first appearance since leaving the game following a confrontation with Mike Trout on Sunday against the Angels. Ventura has left both of his starts this year with some sort of minor ailment, leaving some to wonder what freakish occurrence will lead to his departure today.

Also, the Royals called up shortstop Orlando Carlixte from Omaha to provide depth at shortstop. Reymond Fuentes goes back down on the I-29 Merry-go-round.

Rainy day, but we may get this one in.
