Kansas City celebrated its tremendous baseball history today with some sweet Monarchs uniforms, as a tribute to the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues.

In addition, fans came "Dressed to the Nines", in their Sunday best, the way Kansas City Monarchs crowds did on Sunday afternoons at the ballpark after church. This fan-driven, grassroots event has now been co-opted by the Royals in conjunction with the Negro League Museum and NLM President Bob Kendrick. The result has been a tremendously fun event that gives fans a chance to learn about the rich tradition of the Negro Leagues and connect with the past.
