The Royals Monarchs (23-14) have fallen into a first-place tie with the Detroit Tigers, but they have only lost one series all season long. To avoid making that total two, Kansas City will need to defeat Chris Capuano and the New York Yankees today. Unfortunately, they'll have to do it without one of their best players, as Ned Yost is giving Alex Gordon a "normal off day" when the Royals Monarchs are off two of the next four days.
That's okay, it's not like Alex Gordon went 4-4 with two homers and six RBI the last time Kansas City wore throwbacks, right?

Jarrod Dyson in left? What could go wrong?
For the first time in years, Kauffman Stadium isn't 60% Yankee fans when these two teams meet. It's pretty unfortunate that some of the Yankee fans can't make the drive from Johnson County to support their Lakers Cowboys Kentucky Wildcats Yankees, but it's pretty refreshing having 90% of the stadium dressing in Royals Monarchs attire today.
By the way, if you haven't heard, Chris Capuano is in his 12th major league season, and he has somehow never faced the Royals. Today, he will also be making his 2015 season debut. Kansas City will throw out the staff ace thus far in 2015; Edinson Volquez will look for his first quality start since May 2 when he takes the mound at 1:10 PM.
Oh, and in case we needed another reason for why today will be entertaining, Rex Hudler will be wearing the attire of a 50's radio broadcaster. Life is good.
