The state of Royals Review

Its been one year since the Kevins took over. How are we doing?

It was one year ago today that I was fortunate enough to be chosen to take over Royals Review following the departure of Craig Brown and Clark Fosler (who you can still read at Royals Authority). On that day, the Royals were 23-23 and they shipped Mike Moustakas down to Omaha. Since then, the Royals have gone 103-68 (.602), counting the post-season. So you could kind of say I was completely responsible for the Royals turning thing around. You are welcome.

I just wanted to check in and see how things are going. We've had a lot of new users over the last year, which is awesome, and I think many of them have blended in quite nicely with our community. We've brought on several new writers over the last year, all of which have done a fantastic job from Kevin on down to Kevin.

But like the Royals, we are always looking to improve. The Royals Rumblings have been a big hit, which is great. Fanpost participation seems to be up a bit, although I don't think I've encouraged those or integrated them into the page as well as I could. After a rough patch with banning members, we set up a Community Guidelines which most everyone has been able to follow quite easily. We've set up a podcast that Shaun and Matthew have taken over and done a terrific job.

So at the risk of getting all meta, let's have a discussion on the state of  Royals Review. What is working? What isn't working? What ideas would you like to see on this site? Have we maintained the sense of community here? Are there enough otters?

Please, speak freely and air your grievances. Raul Ibanez can give me a pep talk later.
